GWALA GADDI - INDIA'S VOICE

Culturally connected with the idea of Gwala Gaddi from the times of Hindu God Shri Krishna, a gau-paalak himself, we started in the green-dry-forest areas of the National Capital Region.

Our goal was to protect cows and communal peace in the Delhi-NCR-Mewat region known for harm to cows and communal instability. This cow-protection movement was initially built upon the work of Late Sh. Vaidhji who was also known as Rashtravaid, owing to his skills and deep knowledge in Ayurveda. He completed his B.A.M.S. in 1972 and continued researching on Ayurvedic aspects in Medical Science.

The dairy inspiration is over 100 years old which was started by ancestors of Sh. Dada Chhoti Kharal ji, grandfather of Vaid ji in the 18th century who were Sikh warriors turned to cattle-farmers belonging to Punjabi-Afghani heritage. Dada Chhoti was born in late 1890s and grew up to be the over 7 feet tall known as tall white Sardar. An infamous saying about his height was, "Sattar Bania Pao Kharal, sabre unche Dada Chhoti Kharal". With having the great cattle-farming background he found his calling in dairy products continuing the family's gau-paalak legacy.

The initiative in the 21st century began with Sh. Mohan Singh Ji's resignation from his post of Commissioner (Government of Haryana) in protest against cruelty, lack of empathy and facilities provisions towards people with disabilities by Election Commission. From being a small organisation, we became strong with millions of dairy farmers connected with us directly and indirectly in this journey. As the dairy-farmers representative, in the early 2010's, when farmers had no support in fight against lower purchase rate of milk by corporates/cooperatives, our leaders under the guidance of Sh. Singh started a national revolutionary call against milk-scams, adulteration, for dairy-farmers rights and recognition of the issues. With no prior political or financial involvement, our fight was to seek actual justice and not a political or ideological propaganda. After months of national protests, road-blockages in front of government buildings and politicians houses in hopes they would pay attention, government backed down. The-then Prime Minister Sh. Manmohan Singh Ji agreed to meet the demands of Gwala Gaddi Sangh and assurance of proper policies in favour of dairy farmers was given. It would be unfair o say that the government did not do anything. PM Singh did listen and initiated more dialogue in order for proper redressal. Despite his personal initiative, nothing made a long-lasting impact and farmers still continued to suffer. Then this fight was joined by Sh. Mohan Singh Ji, leader and president of Gwala Gaddi in the Supreme Court of India against the Union Government of India which is also known as Swami Achyutyanand & Ors. vs. Union of India. Supreme Court favoured the moral goal of the petitioners and asked the new government to amend laws against adulteration. The fight still continues and with high hopes that one day our nation will have natural, pure and adulteration-free products for the citizens.

We took the fight ahead and provided a direct platform for farmers to earn a rightful price above the disguised standard of lower milk price. Our products and dedicated hard work took recognition globally. Despite the financial competition, minimum increase in the supply of pure milk and restrictions, our manufactured ghee successfully entered global markets where it is not easy for even MNCs to enter. As a proud manufacturer, retailer and supplier, our products are now available internationally!
